Cedar Guides Campfire'03
*yawns* Tired but satisfied. Me and Alethea's hard work in making the fire a successful one has paid off. The fire struct so have done alot of work. We had to be under the sun for more than 6 hrs in total whereas the other guides were in the shelter and AS1 most of the time. Sighz...i hope that next year I wun be in fire struct again.
During lunch time, me, azy and nurul rushed off first to get food prepared for the guides as we were all damn hungry. Hahaz...i was so greedy that i ate 1 1/2 packet of rice. Cannot waste food!!! I dunno y todae i so enthu and energetic for the campfire that i carried most of the benches lor. And i did the job wif so much energy and enthusiasm. I ran up and down the canteen and courtyard...up and down the guides store and guides room. Sighz..i dunno y i felt so enthu bout this campfire.
The campfire was to start at 6.30pm. But it rained so heavily since 5.30pm that all the fire struct work nearly went down the drain. We had to prepare for wet-weather
campfire that me and 3 other guides carried tables frm the canteen up to the hall. Sighz..
Den suddenly at 6pm, the rain got so heavy tat it flooded the foyer where the reception area and deco was there. The deco was nearly destroyed. Most guides were on their hands and knees, using rags to wipe out the water out of the foyer, including me. Sighz....now i noe how hard it is to be a housewife. Haiz..
Luckily, the rain stopped for us at 6.45pm. And immediately, we all whisked our rags to wipe the benches that were in th courtyard and the fire struct had to re-do a lil' bit to our deco. Sigh...it took so much effort to make the deco stand upright...and the rain almost destroyed it.
It was so paisei-ing lor...becoz we had to wipe the benches...wipe everything in front of all the guests. The guests were guides and scouts from other schools. The fire struct were all very happy as our hard work didn't went down the drain. Berlinda cried when the fire successfully lit up. Me and Alethea were soooo happy that our hard work in making the thingy to for the fireball to light up was successful.
Ladies (clap,clap)
gentlemen (clap,clap)
First we gonna rock,
Den we gonna roll,
Den we let it pop, dun let it go.
WOAH...
Welcome to ghetto nova,
we gonna give it to ya,
Come'on let shout it out loud
CEDAR will please this crowd.
Tat was our welcome cheer. Oh man, i lost my voice due to all the cheering. We had been practising our cheers since January. When the other schools cheer their opening cheer, the Cedar Guides were lyk shouting out to dem, "Chinese High, rock on!!". Our campfire was postponed from april to august due to SARS. Stupiak! But, aniwae, our hard work for the campfire paid off. After the campfire, we had refreshments, we were all damn hungry as we only get to eat cakes for dinner. And while we were eating the cakes oso, the seniors were lyk shouting at us to hurry up..so we all gobble down our food and nearly choked. I took some of the refreshments and the juices. It was damn refreshing as i nearly faint due to exhaustion and dehydration. Haha...exaggeration..exaggeration...
And we had TAPS and we ran off home...haha...*yawns* I'm so sleepy that i'm typing wif my eyes close now...goodnite..

Preparation for Cedar Guides Campfire'03
I'm so damn tired. TIRED! TIRED! TIRED! My seniors put me in fire struct. group. Fire struct. has the most responsibility in the campfire. We are in charge of the fire...and making sure that the decorations at the fire are nice and ready.
Me, Alethea, Irene and Shirlee volunteered to soak and sun the firewood. I realli
regret it but Berlinda and Aneesa wanted 4 Sec 1s as the Sec 2s had to practise
their dance. Sighz...I realli, realli regret it...becoz i got 2 or 3 splinters. Not only splinters but oso at the end of the day, i got bleeding nose. It was so paisei-ing as
i got it when Ms Lim was announcing sth bout the Company Leaders 2004 election.
Sigh...thanx Juying for helping me. I gez it's becoz of too much exposure to the sun
and oso too much of kerosene.
I juz hope that i can attend tmr's campfire. Sighz..have to come at 8.15am to prepare
and decorate the campfire. Well, shall update again tmr after campfire if i still have
the energy.

I juz woke up. I can barely open my eyes. I'm so tired and sleepy after yesterday's NDP 2003. I'm proud of our dance and I'm terribly sad that all our hard work for 7 mths (close to 8 mths)is all over...and we wun get to dance again in the stadium as ONE. Sighz...
I spent 1 hr in the toilet scrubbing the gel and glitter out from my hair. The hairstylist put so much glitter on my hair and extra strong hairspray. My family was lyk disappointed becoz they nvr get to see me on TV...sighz...they actually dun even noe my position. My position was behind the center stage and right in the middle.
Nevertheless, my family and frens said it was a nice one. I'm definitely satisfied and oso sad though. Well, below here is my reflection towards NDP 2003.
MY REFLECTIONS...
"Oh, yes!" were my first words when I found out that our school was specially picked for the opening act of the National Day Parade 2003. Cedar Girls was given the opportunity to perform a welcome dance called "Adrenalize". The title says it all; a dance to capture the energy of Techno, a fusion of various cultural influences and the energy of the young generation.
Cedarians' faces creased with wide smiles and we were all geared up when we first stepped into the Multi-Purpose Hall for our first NDP Practice. Our excitement grew when we saw that our instructors and other army personnels were trendy and all excited to start!
For the next few weeks, our practices took place in the hall where we learnt the first few steps through the guidance of our instructors, Mr. Gn and Miss Gan. I still remembered when we first struggled wif the steps especially the split-kind of thing. Little did we know in the following months, our "Oh, yes!" will turn into "Oh, no!" as further practices were held in the hot sun in the Old Cedar Field.
We slogged for close to seven months and in each practice, we were taught new steps. We sharpened and enhanced our sloppy movements and were given our positions in the formations. While we complained in the beginning, little did we realize we were sacrificing our time and effort for the pride of our school and most importantly, the pride of our nation.
Soon, we were given props to enhance our dance. Practice fans were first used before we were given our real fans. We were shocked when we found out that the real fan was the length of our whole arm! Not only was it much more difficult and tricky to control, it was heavy too! However, we were happy to know that our real fans were far more striking and eye-catching than the previous fans we used. Sashes were distributed later to the S-Group who would perform more movements than us.
28th June marked the first practice at the National Stadium. Excitement and anticipation stirred our hearts when we saw SBS buses, chartered specially to send us to the stadium, all parked neatly at our school carpark. We were soon sitting in those buses according to our classes. Noise and chatter filled the buses as our enthusiasm rode high. We were so thrilled and we took so many photos in the bus. My class, 1C, wuld nvr forget to pack sweets and chocolates for NDP. Sighz..we juz carn live w/o junk food...heehee...
Our hearts couldn't contain our thrill and eagerness so much so that we forgot the steps when we were doing our first rehearsal. However with the persistent encouragement of Mr. Gn, our dance choreographer and instructor, we improved during our second rehearsal.
After many tiring and strenuous practices, Cedarians were all geared up for our first show: the National Education Show. We were all buzzing around like bees in the Indoor Stadium, our holding area, between our make-up sessions and our lunch and dinner times, sponsored by KFC and Pizza Hut. We were all so sick of KFC...and we were grateful tat we had PH for lunch.
The atmosphere was tense when we donned our attractive costumes and proceeded to the National Stadium where we received a tremendous shock when we saw a sea of red and an astounding crowd. We were all anxious for our first performance. Our anxiety subsided when the dance started and we were in full swing! We did our best even though some wrong-coloured fans, dropped fans...sighz...
Nevertheless, we were in high spirits when we found out that the audience enjoyed the dance. After the NDP preview, Combined Rehearsal and another school practice, as confident Cedarians we prepared ourselves for the Big Day - 9th August and gave our all for the actual day!
We managed to do our best, and most Cedarians said the actual performance was the best ever. I definitely think so as one or two fans only dropped and no wrong-coloured fans and maybe I'm the only one whu fell during the dance. Haiz...
Perseverance and pride were the two important learning points we had to remember to help us pull through the long practices. With the guidance of Mr. Gn, Ms. Gan and the teachers involved, we have made our 8 mths of hard work a satisfying one indeed. CEDAR WILL CONTINUE TO "ADRENALIZE"!
